Just spent a week tracking down a paging issue in AIX 7.1 that did not exist in fact.
It all started off with multiple ADDM reports saying:
Host operating system was experiencing significant paging but no particular root cause could be detected. Investigate processes that do not belong to this instance running on the host that are consuming significant amount of virtual memory. Also consider adding more physical memory to the host.
And the paging metrics were showing continual non-zero page out rates.
The AIX administrators finally convinced me that there was no paging going on.
When I tried to raise an SR, I was directed to Bug Virtual Memory Paging Reported Incorrectly on 126.96.36.199 (Doc ID 1515849.1) which described my problem exactly.
The main problem was that I was too trusting of OEM.
